Running Multiple Counters? How Team Alerts Stop 'Paisa aaya kya?'

When the owner's phone is the only one that hears payments, staff keep asking. MyBox team sharing lets every counter phone announce the same UPI alerts.

By MyBox Team

“Bhaiya, paisa aaya kya?” If you run a shop with more than one person at the counter, you hear this a dozen times a day. The customer scanned the QR at the billing counter, but the phone that gets the notification is in the owner’s pocket at the back. The staff member has to shout, the owner has to check, the customer waits. This post is about ending that loop with MyBox team sharing.

Why one phone is not enough

A UPI QR code is tied to one account, and the app on one phone receives the notification. That is fine for a single-person chai stall. It breaks the moment a second person is handling customers.

Some common situations:

  • A kirana store where the owner sits at the cash counter and a helper handles the vegetable section outside.
  • A salon with a reception desk and two chairs, where clients pay at the chair before leaving.
  • A sweet shop during festival season with three billing counters and one QR standee at each.
  • A cloth shop where the owner is often upstairs in the godown while the son manages the floor.

In every case, the person taking the payment is not the person holding the phone that hears it.

What team sharing does

MyBox lets the owner add staff members to the shop. Each staff member installs MyBox on their own Android phone and joins with a simple invite. From then on, whenever a UPI payment arrives on the owner’s account, every team phone announces it too.

The staff member does not need access to the owner’s UPI app, bank account or PIN. They only receive the announcement: the amount, spoken aloud in the language they choose on their own phone. Nothing about the payment can be changed or reversed from a staff phone.

Roles: owner and staff

MyBox keeps roles simple, because a shop is not a corporate office.

Owner is the person whose UPI apps receive the payments. The owner’s phone is the one with notification access turned on. The owner invites and removes team members, manages the subscription, and can see the full payment history.

Staff members hear the alerts and can see recent payments so they can confirm a customer’s transaction on the spot. They cannot invite others, change settings for the shop, or remove the owner.

The number of staff phones you can add depends on your plan. For most small shops, two or three team phones cover every counter.

Setting it up in five minutes

  1. On the owner’s phone, open MyBox and go to Team.
  2. Tap Invite and share the link with your staff member on WhatsApp.
  3. The staff member installs MyBox from Google Play, opens the link, and signs in with their own phone number.
  4. Accept them from the owner’s phone. That is it.
  5. Ask someone to make a ₹1 test payment. Both phones should announce it.

Each team member picks their own language and volume. Your Marathi-speaking helper hears Marathi, you hear Hindi, and the payment is the same.

Three shop scenarios

The kirana with an outside counter

Suresh runs a kirana in Nagpur. His nephew handles the outside counter selling milk, bread and eggs in the morning rush. Earlier, every UPI customer at the outside counter meant a shout inside: “Chacha, 85 aaya?” Now the nephew’s phone announces it. The phone either speaks or it does not.

The salon with pay-at-chair

A two-chair salon in Pune had one QR at the reception desk. Clients paid after their haircut, often while the receptionist was on a call. The stylist had no idea whether the payment went through. With MyBox on both the reception phone and the stylist’s phone, the stylist hears the amount while the client is still in the chair.

The sweet shop at Diwali

A mithai shop in Indore sets up three temporary billing counters for two weeks each year. The owner cannot be at all three. Before MyBox, one person was assigned only to watch the phone and shout amounts. Now each counter staff has the app, and that person is back to packing boxes.

Tips for a smooth team setup

  • Keep the owner’s phone plugged in and at the shop. It is the source of the alerts. If it goes home at lunch, every team phone goes quiet too. If the owner is often away, keep a cheap Android phone at the shop as the “owner” device and log in there.
  • Set battery settings on every staff phone. Our notification access guide covers the Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme and Samsung steps. Staff phones need the same care.
  • Use different volumes for different counters. The outside counter can be loud; the cabin can be soft.
  • Remove staff who leave. One tap on the owner’s phone, and the old employee stops hearing your shop’s payments.

Stop shouting across the shop

Team alerts do not just save time. They stop small disputes, stop the “let me check” pause, and let each person at each counter close the sale with confidence. Start your free 7-day trial, invite one staff phone, and see how quickly “paisa aaya kya?” disappears. Get MyBox on Google Play.
